Job summary

Marguerite‑Bourgeoys School Service Centre is seeking a specialized education technician to support students with diverse needs. You will help develop intervention plans, lead instructional activities, and assist in learning, reading, and writing tasks within the classroom.

The role emphasizes crisis de‑escalation, behavior modification support, autonomy, teamwork, and strong communication with parents and educators to foster a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Holds a DEC in one of the listed disciplines or an equivalent recognized by authorities.
• Holds DEC plus two certificates from the specified list.
• Holds a BAC in psychology or related field (or social work).
• Holds an AEC of 60 credits in Special Education Techniques or Social Work Techniques.
• AEC diplomas under 60 credits are accepted but do not grant access to a regular position.
• Demonstrates adaptability, stress management, autonomy, rigor, organization, and teamwork.
• Exhibits good judgment, problem-solving, empathy, patience, and child safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development and writing of intervention plans for students in difficulty.
• Develop and lead educational, cultural, recreational, and sports activities.
• Support learning in class and help with reading, writing, and homework.
• Observe and intervene to promote calm, apply crisis-intervention techniques.
• Meet students, parents, and staff to advise and provide documentation.
