Do you have experience in instrumentation, metrology, and data acquisition systems, as well as in aerospace product testing? Join us as a Flight Test & Instrumentation Specialist (FTI) and get involved in flight tests on our flying test beds (FTB3 and FTB4).

On the ground, you’ll be responsible for the installation, integration, configuration, calibration, troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance of instrumentation systems. You’ll also prepare drawings and instructions for installing instrumentation equipment.

In the air, you’ll operate data acquisition systems and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during experimental engine flight tests. A key role for innovative and exciting programs!

The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours in Mirabel, and is exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and executing all instrumentation activities pertaining to meet key milestones for a flight test campaign of an experimental engine.
  • Design, install, calibrate, configure, operate and maintain airborne Data Acquisition Systems
  • Generate drawings to produce harnesses
  • Write work instructions for the installation/removal of onboard instrumentation equipment
  • Condition, monitor and record data in flight and on the ground
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues
  • Ensure data quality and efficiency
  • Participate in the pre/post-flight briefings.
  • Take initiatives for continuous improvements in the business
  • May travel occasionally for business.
  • Work schedule on day shift and evening shift in rotations (1 week / 5 weeks)
  • Work schedule on weekend (Saturday) in rotations (1 Saturday / 5 week ends)
  • Typical Flight test days: 7am to 7pm

What you need to be successful?

  • Technical college degree in Instrumentation or Electronic with 5 years’ experience in a related field of Instrumentation or a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automatization, Physics, Aerospace engineering or other applicable scientific discipline
  • Obtain a High-Altitude Indoctrination (HAI) certificate
  • Knowledge of standard instrumentation types, sensors, signal conditioning types, electronic principles as well as calibration procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Leadership, autonomy, passion and a sense of responsibility
  • Demonstrated abilities to work well in a team, perform under pressure and adapt to change
  • Ability to innovate and change status quo in the business unit
  • Experience and knowledge of flight testing or testing of aeronautical products.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Data Acquisition Systems and engine control systems
  • Comfortable using computers and ability to operate, learn and adapt to multiple softwares
  • Knowledge and understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC)

This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
