Job description

What you will be doing
  1. Provide support to patients and healthcare providers, including but not limited to information on the Patient Support services, specific diseases and therapies based on manufacturer provided materials and product monograph;
  2. Work with patients and families to complete a needs assessment related to medication access;
  3. Act as a liaison between patients, families, healthcare providers and payers related to medication access;
  4. Provide answers to general inquiry calls submitted via telephone or web-based platforms on program services, disease state or product related questions, based on information provided as part of the program materials;
  5. Provide ongoing support on disease state or product related questions, based on information provided as part of the program materials to ensure patient adherence, as dictated by the needs of the patient;
  6. Refer the patient to contact their healthcare provider should the patient have clinical questions, assessments and situations that fall outside program provided materials or manufacturer product monograph;
  7. Database management and ongoing auditing of files and information captured;
  8. Administer and adhere to case-management protocols, including data collection, ongoing patient follow-up, therapy disruption/discontinuation monitoring, adverse event reporting and liaison with primary healthcare providers;
  9. Work directly with the reimbursement specialist and the physician to secure funding for their patient’s therapies; assist with alternative funding searches when needed;
  10. Prepare for and attend extensive, specialized training sessions for specific therapies provided by the pharmaceutical team, as required;
  11. Attend pharmaceutical meetings as required;
  12. Attend patient meetings, conferences as needed to educate patients and providers on Patient Support Program services;
  13. Work with patient associations and advocacy groups, as required;
  14. Establish and maintain partnerships with the pharmaceutical team;
  15. Liaise with healthcare providers, pharmacies and infusion clinics, and other agencies as required, to coordinate infusions, drug delivery and resolve issues as they arise;
  16. Clear communication to the manager, team and the client regarding the management of patient cases;
  17. With the managers, participate in the training process of new Drug Access Navigators, including but not limited to shadowing & call monitoring;
  18. Report Adverse Events / Severe Adverse Events following program Standard Operating Procedures;
  19. The Drug Access Navigator will also be assigned other duties and tasks as required from time to time. May be required to be on standby / on call as part of this role.
What your background should look like
  1. A Bachelor’s degree in health care or a related field
  2. Requires a minimum of three (3) years, and preference of greater than five (5) years, in the healthcare, pharmaceutical or insurance industry or related experience;
  3. The preferred candidate has healthcare and case management experience in medical or hospital practice or the insurance or bio-pharma industry;
  4. Bilingualism (French and English) strongly preferred;
  5. Strong ability to multi-task;
  6. Ability to work under pressure;
  7. Internet-research and computer savvy; has strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills and is a team player;
  8. Ability to communicate and comprehend medical information;
  9. Demonstrate teamwork abilities;
  10. Ability to work autonomously;
  11. Ability to handle sensitive issues with opposing opinions and strong negotiation skills;
  12. Strong business and financial acumen;
  13. Strong analytical and mathematical skills;
