Position: Human Resources Specialist

The Jesuits of Canada are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Human Resources Specialist to join our team. Under the supervision of the Director, Finance and Administration, the ideal candidate will contribute to the development, management and communication of HR policies, procedures and programs. The incumbent must have a good understanding of the various HR-related tasks, including recruitment and administration, as well as payroll processing and employee benefits. The person must be able to manage HR practices and objectives that will enable an employee-centric and high-performance culture. We are looking for a team player who is comfortable wearing many hats and is enthusiastic about exploring creative and innovative solutions to problems. This newly created position is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work on challenging projects and make an impact.

Main responsibilities

  • Maintain and update employee records for HR and payroll;
  • Oversee the administration of benefits, including enrollments and changes;
  • Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable HR and payroll laws;
  • Act as the main point of contact for employee questions regarding HR and payroll;
  • Coordinate the talent acquisition process (draft and publish job descriptions, screen applications, participate in interviews, check candidate references, etc.);
  • Develop and implement a process for welcoming new employees (orientation and integration);
  • Contribute to the development of pay equity, group benefits and compensation programs;
  • Coordinate the company's training program: contribute to identifying needs, coordinate requests and keep adequate records;
  • Contribute to the implementation of programs and processes that align with the vision, mission, objectives and strategies.

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or another relevant field of study;
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as an HR generalist;
  • Professional title of CHRA (an asset);
  • Experience in payroll processing;
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills;
  • Proven professionalism and ability to demonstrate discretion and confidentiality;
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and find creative solutions;
  • Integrity and respect for the ethics and values of the organization;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English;
