As a Flight Test & Methods Specialist (FTS) on the ground, you will be responsible for the preparation and elaboration of installation instructions pertaining to experimental engines, systems, pylons, and nacelles. You will be involved with multi-disciplinary teams for the planning and execution of flight test campaigns with P&W and P&WC experimental engines. In addition, your role will be to coordinate the related activities resulting in flight readiness of the test articles.
As a Flight Test & Methods Specialist, in flight, your role will be to synchronize, coordinate and execute the engine test plan on the Flying Test Beds (FTB3 and FTB4). Joining the Flight Test & Instrumentation team will provide you exposure on all actual and future P&W/P&WC programs.
This is a full-time position with rotating day and evening shifts (one week out of five), and it also requires occasional weekend work, specifically on Saturdays (one Saturday out of five) in Mirabel. The position is exclusively on-site.
Flight test days begin at 7:00 AM and end no later than 7:00 PM during active flight campaign periods.
What will your day-to-day look like?
Plan, prepare, and execute the flight test campaigns of P&W and P&WC experimental engines.
Write work instructions (Travelers) for the installation/removal of pylons, engines, systems, and nacelle components. You develop assembly sequence, integrate HW, tooling and specific experimental requirements.
Coordinate pylons, engines, and nacelles installation/removal on Flying Test Bed (FTB).
Take charge for the flight test schedule to meet key milestones (Installation, ground runs, first flight).
Actively involved with multidisciplinary engine program team for flight test campaigns preparation.
Prepare risk assessments and coordinate readiness/safety gates of the process.
Lead pre-flight and post-flight briefings.
Operate the experimental engine as well as electrical, pneumatic, fuel and hydraulic systems, and monitor data in accordance with the applicable flight test plans.
Take responsibility for safety related matters through the campaign. You act as cabin safety lead during flight.
Interface with program teams, maintenance, pilots, Flight Test Instrumentation, and quality personnel.
Responsible for continuous improvement initiatives and related business innovations.
What do you need to be successful?
College degree in aircraft maintenance with a minimum of 7 years’ experience or bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
Experience and knowledge of methods engineering.
Knowledge of engines, aircraft, hydraulic, fuel, pneumatic, electrical systems, and mechanical assembly.
Ability to read drawings.
Ability to understand the maintenance personnel needs to build and disassemble mechanical systems.
Demonstrate ability to work well in a team and to perform under pressure.
Demonstrate ability to adapt to change.
Experience and knowledge of flight testing.
Knowledge and understanding of Data Acquisition Systems and engine control systems.
Knowledge of Aerospace Regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of requirements for traceability, documentation related to aircraft maintenance.

May travel occasionally for business.
Must be able to pass a medical exam and obtain a High-Altitude Indoctrination (HAI) certificate once in the position.
