Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited in Canada is seeking a Specialist, Water Management to lead water treatment, hydrological assessments and water balance optimization across operations, including closure planning. You will guide a multidisciplinary team and drive innovative, compliant water management solutions.

The role reports to the General Supervisor, Critical Infrastructure, and requires 7–8 years in industrial water management, a relevant engineering degree, and strong project management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science in related fields.
• 7–8 years of experience in water management in industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead water management projects across operations, closure and post-closure.

Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Critical Infrastructure, you will be part of the Environment & Critical Infrastructure. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

As part of a small but highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will lead projects that support some of the most critical water management and treatment systems on site. From early-stage planning to implementation, you will have the opportunity to drive innovation, influence outcomes, and contribute directly to the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation and closure of our mining assets.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance for water treatment, hydrological and hydrogeological assessments, water quality forecasting, and water management infrastructure throughout operations, closure, and post-closure;
• Develop, maintain, and optimize site-wide water balances for surface and underground operations.
• Monitor, analyze, track, and report water movement, water quality, water inventories, and water management performance through dashboards, flash reports, KPIs, and technical reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making;
• Communicate water management & sampling requirements to site teams and ensure implementation of follow-up actions;
• Develop and maintain water management plans, engineering specifications, and water-related projects in compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements;
• Support and review the engineering design of water management systems for operational and closure applications;
• Develop medium and long-term strategies for water reclaim pit dewatering, surface water management, effluent discharge, and water treatment in collaboration with operations and engineering teams;
• Manage and coordinate consultants, contractors, and third-party service providers, including scope development, procurement, and execution of technical mandates;
• Support the development of water quality forecasts, water treatment strategies, and permitting-related studies;
• Perform water geochemistry assessments, laboratory quality control reviews, and interpretation of environmental data;
• Lead and execute technical studies and monitoring programs related to surface water, groundwater, flooding, seepage, and mine water inflows;
• Issue technical recommendations and communicate findings through memoranda, reports, presentations, and other technical documentation;
• Prepare management plans, compliance reports, regulatory submissions, and external reporting documents;
• Manage research and development initiatives aimed at advancing water management practices and improving technical understanding;
• Contribute to business optimization by identifying and implementing cost-effective and environmentally responsible water management strategies;
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with operations, process plant, environmental, compliance, permitting, and corporate stakeholders.

What You Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science, in Water engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or related fields;
• 7-8 years of experience in water management related to industrial environments, preferably mining or oil & gas;
• Experience working with site-wide water balance and water management plan;
• Experience with GoldSim;
• Be disciplined, self-organized and show initiative;
• Practice good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies;
• Experience working in a multicultural environment;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
• Strong Project Management;
• Experience with water quality modeling is considered an asset;
• Knowledge of mining water practices and regulatory compliance.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule:40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Occasional visits to site will be required;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
