Specialist, US Tax

Our client is in search of an experienced Specialist, US Tax to join their team in Calgary. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading and advising on US tax matters, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and optimizing tax strategies to support business objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of US tax laws, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments. This role offers flexibility of a hybrid or remote work schedule.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Manage, including preparation and review, the filing of U.S. federal, applicable state, and local tax returns, including cross border tax compliance filings
  • Prepare and review of the U.S. tax provisions and analysis under IFRS for financial reporting purposes.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax positions
  • Provide U.S. tax advice and support with business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings and domestic or cross-border financing
  • Monitor and analyze changes in tax legislation
  • Manage and coordinate tax audits and inquiries by federal, state, and local tax authorities
  • Prepare and present responses to tax notices and audit findings
  • Work closely with the Finance, Legal, and Business Development teams to provide tax insights and support on various projects and initiatives
  • Assist in U.S. tax forecasting
