Job summary

Coke Canada Bottling is recruiting a Tax Specialist to join our Finance team in Toronto. You will prepare Canadian indirect tax returns and environmental reports, collaborating with Finance, Legal and Supply Chain to ensure full regulatory compliance.

This role offers a hybrid work schedule (3 in-office days a week: Tue, Wed, Thu) with occasional remote days, a base salary between CAD 82,800 and CAD 100,000, and opportunities to influence taxation strategy across multiple Canadian jurisdictions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive indirect tax experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian indirect tax regulations.
  • Experience with provincial recycling deposit programs is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure GST/HST, QST and PST compliance across Canada.
  • Prepare sales tax filings, reconciliations, and payments.
  • Provide advisory support on indirect tax matters to business units.
  • Support indirect tax audits and inquiries.
  • Participate in indirect tax process automation efforts.
  • Prepare budgets for sales tax and recycling costs.

Role Details
  • Work Location – Toronto
  • Hybrid Environment – This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. Subject to change. The in-office requirement is a minimum of three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday), with the flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days.
  • Salary – The base salary range for this position is from $82,800 - $100,000 annually. The starting base salary offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, role complexity, skills, experience, and internal equity.

About This Opportunity

We are recruiting a Tax Specialist to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Manager, Indirect Tax, this role is responsible for preparing Coca Cola’s Canadian indirect tax returns, as well as provincial recycling deposit and environmental levy returns, in full compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations. The Tax Specialist works closely with internal partners across Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain, as well as with external advisors.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands on exposure to complex, multi jurisdictional indirect tax matters in a fast paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
Indirect Taxes (Sales & Excise Taxes)
  • Ensure compliance with GST/HST, QST and PST obligations across Canada.
  • Prepare sales tax return filings, reconciliations, and payments.
  • Provide advisory support to the business on indirect tax matters, including product launches, pricing, and supply chain changes.
  • Provide required support for indirect tax audits and inquiries.
  • Participate in indirect tax process automation efforts.
  • Preparation and trend analysis of Sales Tax budgets.
Environmental & Recycling Deposit Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with provincial recycling deposit return programs and environmental stewardship obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Prepare filings, reconciliations, and remittances related to container deposit legislation and recycling programs.
  • Preparation of annual budgets for recycling costs and analyzing the cost trends.
  • Coordinate with operations, supply chain, and external service providers to ensure accurate data capture and reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian indirect tax regulations.
  • Experience with provincial recycling deposit programs and multi jurisdictional reporting is an asset.
  • SAP or other ERP experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and sound professional judgment.
