Job posting end date: 05/02/2025

Introduction

We are seeking a Talent & Development Specialist to join our Talent & Development team. You will be responsible for contributing to the seamless implementation of local and global development and learning initiatives, which involves coordinating events, creating materials, organizing activities, and ensuring the smooth delivery of our portfolio. Your role plays a crucial part in promoting organizational growth and supporting our people priorities, which will positively impact employee engagement and development. In this position, you will report to the Manager, Talent & Development.

This position is mainly located in Montreal, QC, Burlington, ON, York, PA, Brookfield, WI, or Mesa, AZ, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.

Team you belong to

You will join a team of multi-functional Talent & Development experts dedicated to supporting North and Central America (NCA) at Metso. We are currently working on the People Academy, focused on behavioral and people-focused development, and various talent, learning, and organizational development projects.

We work closely with internal stakeholders, such as regional HR teams and global HR Business Partners. Our team culture is all about developing an inclusive culture that enables everyone to do their best and reach their full potential. The members in our team are located in various locations within Canada and the US.

What you’ll do

  • Organize and coordinate events and activities that promote talent growth and employee development.
  • Support the planning, design, and implementation of the People Academy, focused on behavioral and people-focused development.
  • Develop and continuously improve operational processes to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Design, develop, and deliver learning programs, including needs analysis, material creation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create meaningful, tailored learning experiences.
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS), including compliance training, reporting, and onboarding assignments.
  • Run or contribute to various talent, learning, and organizational development projects and campaigns.
  • Identify and implement individual learning initiatives to encourage employee growth.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Communication, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Learning & Development, HR, or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design, and modern training methodologies.
  • Proficiency in designing and delivering engaging training programs for various learning styles (in-person, virtual, blended).
  • Project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple initiatives, deadlines, and resources efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Cornerstone).
  • Written and verbal communication skills for creating engaging materials, presentations, and emails.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to build relationships with employees, managers, and external partners.

What's in it for you

  • An inspiring purpose - Enabling sustainable modern life. Minerals and metals are the backbone of essential functions in the modern world. However, there's a pressing need for more sustainable solutions to collect and process them. At Metso, you get to be part of transforming the industry and making a positive change.
  • Wellbeing and safety - Benefit from occupational healthcare, generous benefits plan, healthy living rewards, mental well-being services, and engagement surveys.
  • Compensation and rewards - Global incentive program tied to business and performance targets.
  • Hybrid working possibilities - While we are big advocates of meeting and collaborating in person, we believe in fostering a flexible work environment.
  • A thriving culture - We are committed to developing an inclusive culture that enables everyone to do their best and reach their full potential. A culture that is courageous, compelling, and caring, and unites our people to build a sustainable future together.
  • Extensive learning opportunities - Ongoing growth dialogues, internal mobility, mentoring programs, education assistance, ambitious projects, and global opportunities.
  • Worldwide support - Leverage our network of peers across the world, offering valuable assistance. We get things done together, through open and honest communication.
