Ontario Health is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Specialist to support strategic planning and implementation initiatives across the Central Region. This role is ideal for a collaborative professional with a passion for health system improvement, stakeholder engagement, and data-informed decision-making.
As a key member of the System Strategy, Planning, Design and Implementation team, you will contribute to the development and execution of complex planning projects, support business planning and reporting processes, and help drive regional priorities aligned with Ontario Health’s Annual Business Plan (ABP). You will also play a vital role in fostering integration, equity, and quality improvement across programs and services.
Here is what you will be doing:
Strategic Planning & Implementation
Assist in managing complex planning projects and initiatives that support health system integration and transformation.
Provide input into healthcare system funding plans and manage project plans and budgets for planning and integration activities.
Support the implementation of Ontario Health Central’s strategic priorities, including business planning, program integration, and equity-focused initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & System Monitoring
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather input, assess impact, and build consensus on planning recommendations.
Monitor implementation and quality improvement activities related to healthcare planning.
Communicate emerging community issues requiring planning responses using predictive models and community feedback.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Analyze local healthcare system data, community input, and provincial sources to identify service gaps and establish planning priorities.
Support annual and quarterly reporting for key business priorities and special projects.
Coordinate data dashboards, project schedules, and progress reports to support high-impact initiatives.
Collaboration & Capacity Building
Work closely with Lead-level positions to manage project plans and budgets.
Promote high-quality research and planning methodologies across the region.
Support health service providers in adhering to accountability agreements and improving quality and patient safety.
Operational Excellence
Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and contribute to a culture of psychological safety and patient-centered care.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the team’s strategic goals.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience:
Post-secondary education in health administration, health planning, business administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a health care environment.
3-5 years’ experience working in a healthcare setting
Knowledge and Skills:
Good knowledge of and proven ability to apply multiple planning and analysis methodologies and make effective recommendations.
Understanding of the current and changing dynamics of the Ontario health-care system and issues.
Understanding and experience with embedding quality improvement initiatives.
Demonstrated financial competence.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with other staff and to liaise with colleagues across Ontario Health and with contacts in the Ministry
Must be highly organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
Uses information to make informed decisions and provides advice; exercises a high degree of independence and professional judgment in problem solving
Solid written and verbal communication skills. Internally, communicates with colleagues throughout the organization to present, discuss information and problems related to financial management and funding. Externally, communicates directly with various stakeholders to monitor funding allocations and performance.
Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism with a solid understanding of financial controls.
Highly proficient in MS office suite of tools including strong excel and PowerPoint skills.
Excellent analytical, presentation and problem-solving skills required.
Must be highly organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
