Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Montreal (Aerospace Canada) is seeking a Specialist, Supply Chain (Systems & Avionics) to lead supplier strategy and contract negotiations. You will manage complex procurement programs, build strategic alliances, and drive cost reduction while coordinating with senior management.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of contract negotiation experience in a large manufacturing setting, with aerospace exposure and strong French/English communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years direct contract negotiation/drafting in a large manufacturing setting; 12+ preferred.
  • Experience in aerospace industry, manufacturing or program management is an asset.
  • Strong presentation skills for executive level updates and business cases.
  • Detail oriented, deadlines driven, and strong leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new sources of supply and establish strategic alliances.
  • Lead and participate in commodity development and manage projects including business cases.
  • Lead contract negotiations with suppliers.
  • Ensure contracts are maintained per business requirements.
  • Travel occasionally; work from Montreal sites at least two days per week.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Develop new sources of supply and establish strategic alliances.
  • Develop negotiation business strategies.
  • Lead and participate in the development of the commodity by managing projects that would include the preparation of business cases.
  • Lead, develop and execute the commodity strategy and provide to senior management project and negotiation statuses.
  • Identify, analyze and realize cost reduction opportunities
  • Create and maintain formal networks internally and externally.
  • Act as single interface with suppliers of new business.
  • Support Sites and/or Business Units with appropriate sourcing strategies.
  • Coordinate and lead negotiations of any claims with suppliers in support of business unit production issues.
  • Support Business Units in the application of contractual remedies against material breaches.
  • Lead contract negotiations with suppliers.
  • Ensure contracts are maintained in accordance to our business requirements
  • Support/coach Procurement Agents in their contracts negotiations, the commercial agreements and product changes negotiations, as well as the contracts amendments;
  • Participate in the governance of cost reduction initiatives and ensure projects come to fruition.
  • Actively participate in supplier program reviews led by the business units.
  • Develop and coach team members on procurement initiatives and processes.
  • Support commodity manager in the performance development plan process.
  • Act as an informal leader, assisting with improving team effectiveness and guide the team to develop/implement the strategy or approach.
How to thrive in this role?
  • You hold a bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering or equivalent.
  • You have at least 8 years of direct contract negotiation and contract drafting experience in a large complex manufacturing organizing; 12+ years preferred
  • You have experience in the aerospace industry and/or manufacturing environment and/or program management, in a commercial role, an asset.
  • You have excellent negotiation skills and experience in project management, and have managed a contract portfolio of at least $10M of annual spend.
  • You have demonstrated experience in executive level presentations including business cases and strategy updates.
  • You are detail oriented, focused and committed to meeting deadlines.
  • You are a strong team player, recognized for your leadership and innovation, and ability to mobilize a team.
  • Have a high proficiency and are good communicator in French and English (written and spoken)
  • You have strong capabilities in operations and financial management.
  • You are comfortable with complex technical topics, and have knowledge of legal terminology or interpretation of contracts.
  • You are familiar with Just-In-Time purchasing logistic, integrated supply chain and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • You can work with MS Project, Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Outlook.
  • You are able to travel for work on occasion, as per business need.
  • You are able to work from one of our Montreal sites at least two days per week, sometimes more, as per the applicable Policy.
