What Will You Do

The Specialist, Retail & Hospitality – Leasing and Contracts supports the commercial and retail operations team by managing leasing agreements, including drafting, processing, and overseeing approvals for leases, licenses, and amendments. This role ensures data accuracy across systems like Propworks and manages workflows for new and expiring agreements. It involves liaising with Retail Managers, tenants, legal counsel, and internal departments to facilitate negotiations and ensure compliance with policies and regulations, including Transport Canada’s Security & Emergency Preparedness Plan. Additional responsibilities include supporting space rationalization, tenant audits, and maintaining lease records.

The Retail and Hospitality Development team leads the development of the airport’s retail and hospitality landscape, focusing on innovative concepts to enhance shopping, dining, and service options. The team is diverse, passionate about customer needs, and at the forefront of industry trends.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all leases, licenses, and agreements for the retail and hospitality team, supporting revenue opportunities.
  • Review terms for risks to the organization.
  • Support tenant audits to ensure compliance and security.
  • Assist with creating new agreements in Propworks.
  • Negotiate and facilitate lease agreements with Retail Managers and legal counsel.
  • Draft and review lease documents prior to execution.
  • Identify revenue opportunities from lease reviews.
  • Support negotiations and execution of agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with security and emergency protocols.
  • Maintain accurate lease data in all systems.
  • Ensure proper storage, governance, and accessibility of contracts.
  • Act as liaison among Retail Managers, General Manager, tenants, and legal team.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners on lease decisions.
What Do You Need To Bring
  • Ability to gain and maintain a RAIC.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Real Estate, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience managing leases and supporting negotiations.
  • Experience reviewing lease agreements for financial and strategic insights.
  • Ability to manage full agreement workflows.
  • Supportive negotiation skills and legal collaboration experience.
  • Knowledge of contract law and leasing practices.
  • Understanding of landlord-tenant relationships and lease obligations.
  • Familiarity with financial pro-formas and basic financial math.
  • Knowledge of tenant fit-out procedures and business sale practices.
  • Understanding of airport policies and procedures.
  • Basic budgeting and accounting skills.
  • Negotiation capabilities for contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong data analysis skills to interpret lease terms and identify revenue opportunities.
Optional Assets
  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Familiarity with airport policies is a plus.
