Job summary

Intact Specialty Solutions in Canada’s energy insurance sector is seeking a Specialist or Senior Specialist, Specialty Solutions, to join our growing Energy team in Calgary. You’ll support product development, underwriting guidelines, market intelligence and pricing research, collaborating with distribution, brokers and internal teams.

The role requires energy underwriting experience, a CIP designation, and the ability to travel occasionally; we offer strong benefits, pensions and growth

Qualifications

• University degree/College diploma or equivalent education
• Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, ideally 5 years in Energy/Natural Resources/Large/Complex Property Underwriting
• Highly organized, capable of working toward goals in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills, ability to persuade and challenge others
• Self-starter able to work independently and with national teams
• Analytical, negotiating and decision-making skills
• Ability to meet tight deadlines; strong time management
• High integrity, confidentiality and accountability
• Digital and Data Acumen to support customer and underwriters
• CIP is a must; FCIP and/or CRM designation is an asset
• Willing to travel occasionally
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Support the strategic product development plan to achieve growth targets
• Develop guidelines, authority statements and manage the referral process to support performance and underwriting
• Gather market intelligence by working with distribution, brokers and customers and compare Intact’s product offering to the competition
• Research technology-based solutions for pricing, underwriting, risk assessment and loss mitigation opportunities
• Collaborate with internal teams to explore new growth and profitability opportunities through technical research and relationship building
• Assist in portfolio management through governance best practices, profitability and growth analysis
• Perform technical underwriting audit
• Communicate changes related underwriting guidelines and new products
• Provide underwriting training, lending expertise to colleagues and distribution underwriters

Salary range (but not limited to):

118,700 - 145,100

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles.

What you bring to the table:

• Digital and Data Acumen, understanding how these two items can support and facilitate the customer and Underwriters experience

• CIP is a must and FCIP and/or CRM designation is an asset

• Willing to travel on occasion
