Our Specialist, Grants & Investment Programs, supports the successful delivery and monitoring of Travel Alberta’s grant and investment programs. The role involves working with internal and external stakeholders to lead grant administration and support program management, including grant intake, data integrity, and reporting.

Candidates must demonstrate high competency in internal and external engagement, professionalism, discretion, and integrity in all interactions.

Travel Alberta’s investments support industry growth through strategic partnerships, air access, and tourism investment programs, yielding significant returns such as job creation, private sector investment, and community economic development.

Grant and Investment Program Operations 70%
Communication and Stakeholder Relations 20%

Responsibilities:
Grant & Investment Operations:

  • Support grant administrative, operational, and reporting requirements with tourism operators and internal teams.
  • Update grant guidelines, process documentation, reporting forms, and agreement templates.
  • Ensure team awareness of grant-related deadlines.
  • Assist in managing the grant program budget.
  • Support the Destination Development team in initial eligibility assessments for grant applicants.
  • Gather, centralize, and report on grant documentation and performance results.
  • Develop documents for grant application assessments and review quantitative data for trends and performance.
  • Manage the Tourism Investment Program SharePoint site.
  • Support financial reconciliation and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Identify opportunities for program improvements based on best practices.
  • Monitor and report on grant program success, identifying trends and opportunities.

Communication and Stakeholder Relations:

  • Manage the Tourism Investment Program email inbox and respond to inquiries.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to update grant communications and support stakeholder reporting.
  • Ensure stakeholders meet reporting deadlines and communicate program results effectively.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to resolve administration challenges.

Team Support:

  • Assist the destination development team and support internal policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate team meetings related to commercial investments.
  • Provide backup administrative support as needed.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration.
  • At least three years' experience in grant administration or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Knowledge of government processes and procedures.
  • Proficiency with technology, financial systems, and reporting tools.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with diverse stakeholders.
