Compensation : $63,000 annually, plus a generous leave, benefits and pension package disqualification

About the Job :

Reporting to Manager, Employee & Union Relations or their designate, Employee & Union Relations Specialist provides labour relations consultation, advice, and support to people leaders for Atira’s 4 business units- AWRS, APMI, ADS, and AWAS. You will promote and foster a consultative and problem-solving labour relations approach with program managers and directors and support staff by providing consistent application and guidance on collective agreements, legislation, relevant regulations and acts, policies, and procedures. You will work cross-functionally with Payroll Operations, and other People and Culture team members to support Atira staff, Program Managers and Directors. You will participate in and sometimes lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes, procedures, and training and development initiatives.

You will Draft Letters of Expectations, Letters of Warning, Letters of Suspension, and Termination Letters etc, while providing coaching and guidance to managers on all aspects of the performance management process; educate and support managers in the delivery of discipline, interpretation of Collective Agreements, Memoranda of Agreement, and internal policies; provide guidance on probationary reviews, including how to conduct evaluations, deliver feedback, and follow up; participate in training and development initiatives related to performance management and labour relations; conducting presentations to program leaders; conduct workplace and incident investigations including, reviewing the incidents, assessing evidence, conducting interviews and analyzing timekeeping records and preparing comprehensive investigation reports; managing enquiries through the PowerApps system; updating internal Labour Relations tracker to ensure visibility on all performance management, investigations and grievances in progress; documentation and filing of all employee incident reports (HR Reports), LOE’s and disciplinary correspondences.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Human Resources or other relevant bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years working in Human Resources ideally as a Labour Relations Investigator, as a Generalist or Business Partner, with at least 3 years in a unionized environment

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • Experience working with UltiPro UKG HR system or similar HRIS.
  • Experience working with FreshDesk ticketing or similar helpdesk tracker
  • Experience with Sharepoint or similar shared resource directory
  • All positions are subject to a criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check
