Qualifications

YOUR ROLE

Reporting directly to the Customs Compliance and Operations Manager , the Customs Operations, Specialist will be an integral part of the Customs operations team. Working in close collaboration with all supporting departments and channels while ensuring the seamless rollout of cross-functional processes. The ideal candidate will be results-oriented and have a strong desire to learn, be curious and strive for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Ensure all adjustments for US are filed, recorded and refunds and claims are final.
  • Support Service Provider to Process Drawbacks (including preparing the export data based, import data base)
  • Manage and validate document retention archives
  • Work with brokers and carriers to resolve day-to-day operational issues
  • Work with the finance team to Investigate and document duty variances between the duty paid and accrued for US
  • Prepare the Database to share with Customs Broker.
  • Coordinate the cross border (CA to US) shipments between Carrier, Transport and Customs
  • Identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide backup support to Canadian Customs operations as required.

Key Requirements :

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Customs.
  • Knowledge of the CA and US Tariff and familiar with Import documents such as 7501’s.
  • College or bachelor’s degree in a supply chain or customs trade related program an asset.
  • CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) certification an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel (Medium as must, advanced an asset), Word, Power Point
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and French
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, as well as adaptable to change
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving ability
  • Flexible and able to work with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Capability to work independently and a strong team player with the eagerness to learn
