About the role

Join the Multi-Unit Borrower Financial Analysis (MUBFA) team within the Business and Portfolio Operations Division, in the Specialist, Credit Risk and Financial Analysis position, where we provide credit opinions on large borrowers in support of Underwriting Operations. In this role, you will identify, analyze and assess the risks on large borrowers and provide a recommendation on CMHC’s continued insurance business.

What you will do:

  • Prepare credit risk assessments of applicants supporting the Multi-Unit programs.
  • Review financial statements and organizational structure, calculate financial ratios, and prepare/present a credit risk report to management.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to appropriate staff and management on applicants’ creditworthiness.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with key stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of the operational environment in order to influence complex business decisions.
  • Perform, document, and guide ad hoc financial analysis and provide analytical assistance to various internal stakeholders.

What you should have:

  • An Undergraduate degree in a related field such as business, accounting, finance, commerce or economics.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in credit/financial analysis and risk management practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work in a multi-demand environment.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills, knowledge of market information and analysis systems (Bloomberg, Reuters, S&P Capital IQ).
  • A good knowledge of multi-unit underwriting operations.

It would be great if you also had:

  • A CPA, CFA or CIA professional designation or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated Audit experience is an asset.
