Job summary

Job description

Reports To: Director of Economic Development & Tourism
Location: Initial Placement – Wincey Mills

Minimum Qualification:

  • Post-secondary education in tourism, special event planning, film industry, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience, preferably with municipal/community/charity events, filming production and/or tourism related initiatives
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook as well as website navigation
  • Proficiency utilizing various types of media for event promotion
  • Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of initiative and self-direction
  • Ability to meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced team environment with a high degree of professionalism with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including weekends/ holidays
  • Valid Class G driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract

Assets:

  • Experience working with the community, engaging & cultivating communication lanes with stakeholders, especially non-for-profit community organizations
  • Knowledge of the tourism field and industry make-up
  • Experience working with Ontario Creates (formerly OMDC)
  • Member of or familiar with Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO)

Duties:

  • Provide main staff support concerning all matters involving County of Brant Special Event and Filming applications including but not limited to agenda and minute preparation, applicant and departmental correspondence as well as preparing briefing/report documents for County Council
  • Providing support and necessary collaboration in the achievement of objectives set out in the County of Brant Filming & Digital Media Strategy
  • Coordinate event promotion across different types of media in collaboration with the County’s Communications and Marketing Division
  • Represent Brant Tourism vis-à-vis attending assigned special events & film production sites
  • Creation, distribution, collection and analysis of event data surveys
  • Provide marketing / promotional support through fulfillment of external requests, organizing and maintaining promotional displays, tracking promotional items, by providing social media & event calendar updates
  • Assist in the coordination of established community and corporate events
  • Assist in coordinating County of Brant Special Event Organizer/Filming Preparedness Workshops
  • Serve as contact for community groups / service clubs /businesses/film industry
  • Other duties as assigned

Hourly Wage Range: $35.53 – $41.57 (Job Grade 4) 35 hours per week
