Job summary

Western Quebec School Board is seeking a dedicated employee to support students with special needs within an individualized education plan. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement intervention strategies, assist students with learning activities, and help maintain a conducive classroom environment.

Qualifications include a Diploma of College Studies in Special Care Counselling, and mandatory first aid (8 hours) plus a refresher (6 hours).

Qualifications

• Diploma in Special Care Counselling or equivalent recognized by the competent authority.
• First aid course of at least eight (8) hours.
• Refresher course of at least six (6) hours updating the skills from the first aid course.

Responsibilities

• Work with a multidisciplinary team to support handicapped or students needing special assistance.
• Prepare, organize and conduct educational support activities within individualized plans.
• Counsel students, provide explanations, and assist with reading, writing and lessons as needed.
• Monitor and document student progress and intervene in crisis situations to promote a calm learning environment.
• Administer medications when required and provide first aid according to school policy.
