Join to apply for the Special Education Assistant role at E4C.

We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and adaptable Special Education Assistant to join our Early Learning Services team. In this role, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting classroom programming for preschool-aged children with diverse needs. You will help implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning using key frameworks such as Flight-Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework, the Strength-Based Approach, and the Sustainable Livelihood Model.

Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate, play-based programming for preschool aged children in the classroom, and participate in case management planning.
  • Engage in ongoing interaction with children with complex needs during classroom activities on an individual, small group, and large group basis.
  • Monitor equipment and room to ensure that safety protocols are being followed for optimum protection of children.
  • Play a crucial role in classroom function and positive behavior guidance.
Program Planning
  • Participate in Family-Centered, Child-Focused case meetings that concentrate on the children’s total development.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to implement play experiences that align with children’s IPP goals.
  • Debrief and follow-up on critical incidents and/or crisis situations in conjunction with the site manager.
Administrative
  • Maintain records and reports to meet program standards (e.g., attendance, disclosures, incident reports, cleaning sheets).
  • Participate in program-related assessments, provide feedback for evaluations, and reports to effectively deliver and evaluate the program.
What You Bring To The Team
  • 1+ years’ experience working with children with developmental delays, such as cognitive disabilities, speech and language delays, behavioral concerns, etc.
  • Strong knowledge and experience using the FLIGHT Framework and a learning-through-play approach.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary team settings is an asset.
  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education Assistance, Disability Studies, or related field.
