How will you contribute?

Senator Pierre Dalphond, Independent Senator for De Lorimier (Quebec), Leader of the Progressive Senate Group, and former judge of the Quebec Court of Appeal, is a respected legal expert and policy advocate. His priorities include Senate reform, constitutional and legal matters, environmental protection, Indigenous rights and reconciliation, official languages, international human rights, firearms control, and gender equality. As a central member of his team, you will play a vital role in advancing this impactful work.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Senator and working closely with the Senior Advisor – Parliamentary Strategy, you will oversee the daily administrative and executive operations of the office. This includes a range of key responsibilities such as:

  • Managing the Senator’s calendar and coordinating travel logistics;
  • Prioritizing and tracking high-volume correspondence and follow-ups;
  • Overseeing budget administration and processing expense claims;
  • Preparing briefing materials, formal communications, and official documents;
  • Coordinating speechwriting, content review, and translation timelines;
  • Liaising with Senate offices, the Senate Administration, and external stakeholders;
  • Contributing to public outreach and communications, including social media, press releases, and policy research.

This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive individual eager to contribute to meaningful policy development at the heart of Canadian democracy.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate full-time position in the Office of the Honourable Senator Pierre Dalphond.

Prerequisites

  • Post-secondary education in business administration or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and related work experiences;
  • Proven experience in providing administrative and financial services within an office environment, including drafting formal correspondence, preparing briefing materials and reports, formatting documents, scheduling meetings and coordinating travel, managing digital expense claims and filing systems;
  • Extensive experience using the MS Office Suite, as well as MS Teams and Zoom;
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks and anticipate next steps;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, senior officials, stakeholders, and the public;
  • Strong diplomatic sense and discretion, especially when handling confidential or sensitive information;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, bringing a positive attitude, initiative, and energy to the team;
  • A strong interest in public policy and parliamentary work, and knowledge of the Senate, its policies, or legislative processes, are considered assets;
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French, with strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for a professional setting.
