Job summary

First Student in Nova Scotia is now hiring a Spare School Bus Driver in Cheticamp. No experience is required; we provide expert training to help you become a safe and professional driver. You will start mornings with pickups and transport students home in the afternoon, with additional field trip hours possible.

This role offers an hourly rate of 24.95 CAD, a 1500 CAD sign-on bonus, an EAP, employee discounts, on-site parking and a supportive team dedicated to safety and community impact.

Qualifications

• No experience is necessary to become a school bus driver.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures.
• Good communication with students, parents and staff.
• Commitment to safety and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
• Supervise boarding and unloading at stops; assist students with seatbelts and mobility aids.
• Maintain order on the bus to prevent distractions.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, lights, tires, emergency exits).
• Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the bus clean and sanitary.
• Obey all traffic laws and company safety standards.
• Communicate with parents, school staff, and dispatch about student behavior or delays.
