POSITION INFORMATION :

Payband : G; Starting Rate : $32.42; Four Year Rate : $37.57

Department : Faculty of Business

Hours : 40 hours per week (1-hour lunch); Mon – Fri (scheduled between 7:30 am – 9:30 pm)

Reporting To : Spa Manager, Faculty of Business

Campus Location : Oshawa

Reporting to the Durham College Spa Manager, the technologist will handle shipments, acquire quotations, organize inventory, coordinate and prepare equipment and supplies to support practical and laboratory courses in the Cosmetic Techniques and Management, Esthetician-Spa Management, and Massage Therapy programs (CTMG, ESMG, and MAST).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

DC Spa Operations and Maintenance

• Conduct regular facility inspections and maintain equipment according to manufacturer and health standards.
• Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of lab surfaces, equipment, and furniture in three dedicated labs.
• Supervise students during public operational times as directed.
• Restock and organize program, spa consumables, and retail products.
• Maintain the spa’s welcome area and retail shelves.
• Ensure linens and supplies are available and labs are stocked appropriately.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance to minimize disruptions.
• Monitor labs for compliance with safety procedures and document incidents.
• Maintain spa software for inventory and client records.

Customer Service

• Prepare and store supplies and equipment for various activities.
• Assist faculty, staff, and students with equipment operation and procedures.
• Coordinate equipment movement for off-campus activities.
• Stay informed about product knowledge and service offerings.
• Market and promote services to enhance student experience and revenue.
• Support community relations through tours and promotional activities.
• Resolve operational complaints and communicate issues to the Spa Manager.

Administrative

• Monitor and manage spa inventory and supplies.
• Assist with procurement and purchasing processes.
• Support reception duties including booking, payments, and client data entry.
• Maintain infection control logs and safety documentation.
• Ensure proper labeling and storage of products.
• Manage linen usage and coordinate logistics.
• Process orders and related documentation.

Other Duties

• Assist with promotional events, social media, and open house activities.
• Coordinate student employee activities and ensure standards are met.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. A minimum of a 2-year diploma or equivalent in Esthetician Spa Management.

2. 1-2 years of operational experience in a spa environment.

3. Up-to-date CPR, First Aid, and WHMIS certifications.

4. Excellent office administration and customer service skills.

5. Knowledge of health and safety standards, industry equipment, and inventory control.

6. Experience with spa systems and maintenance protocols.
