Job summary

Intact Financial Corporation is seeking a Principal Underwriter in Specialized Lines – Agricultural to join our growing team. Depending on experience and qualifications, we welcome junior, intermediate, or senior levels of the role.

The position involves underwriting agricultural submissions, guiding brokers with a consultative approach, and negotiating favorable terms. You will contribute to portfolio growth and cross-sell with other lines of business.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in the agricultural insurance sector (underwriting, brokerage, or insurer).
• Strong analytical mindset with a results-driven sales approach.
• Proactive, ambitious and motivated to meet and exceed targets.
• Able to take initiative and perform in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communicator with strong relationship skills and a client-focused approach.
• Ability to develop and retain a broker network.
• Interest in market trends and business development opportunities.
• PAA designation or in progress is an asset.
• Canada work authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze submissions, renewals and policy changes and recommend solutions to maximize business opportunities.
• Support and advise brokers with a consultative, client-focused approach.
• Utilize negotiation skills to close favorable agreements and nurture durable business relationships.
• Actively participate in broker visits, industry events, and marketing activities to grow the portfolio.
• Contribute to department growth objectives and revenue targets.
• Assess risks rigorously and prepare competitive proposals for new business and renewals.
• Collaborate with Specialized Solutions team and other Intact divisions to promote cross-selling opportunities.

Salary range (but not limited to):

94,200 - 115,200

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35‑hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. About the role

En fonction de l’expérience, des compétences et des qualifications des candidats retenus, nous sommes ouverts à différents niveaux de poste; Souscripteur junior, intermédiaire ou principal.

Ce que vous ferez :

• Analyser les demandes de soumissions, de renouvellements et de modifications de polices, et recommander des solutions adaptées pour maximiser les opportunités d'affaires.
• Accompagner et conseiller les courtiers en adoptant une approche consultative axée sur la satisfaction client.
• Mettre à profit vos compétences en négociation pour conclure des ententes avantageuses et entretenir des relations d'affaires durables.
• Participer activement aux visites chez les courtiers, aux événements de l'industrie et aux activités de marketing pour développer le portefeuille.
• Contribuer à l'atteinte des objectifs de croissance du département.
• Évaluer les risques avec rigueur et préparer des propositions compétitives pour les nouvelles affaires et les renouvellements.
• Gérer efficacement les transactions de polices, incluant les renouvellements, les avenants et les soumissions.
• Collaborer avec les membres de l'équipe de Solutions spécialisées ainsi qu'avec les autres divisions d'Intact pour favoriser les opportunités de ventes croisées.

Ce que vous mettez à profit :

• Minimum de 2 ans d'expérience pertinente dans le secteur agricole, que ce soit en souscription, en courtage ou au sein d'un assureur, avec un bilan de performance démontré.
• Esprit analytique combiné à un fort sens de la vente et à une orientation résultats.
• Proactif, ambitieux et motivé par l'atteinte et le dépassement des objectifs.
• Capacité à prendre des initiatives et à performer dans un environnement dynamique.
• Excellent communicateur avec de fortes aptitudes relationnelles et une approche orientée client.
• Aptitude démontrée à développer et à fidéliser un réseau de courtiers.
• Intérêt pour les tendances du marché et les opportunités de développement d'affaires.
• Désignation PAA (Professionnel d'assurance agréé) ou en voie d'obtention. (un atout)
• Aucune expérience de travail au Canada requise, mais nécessité d’avoir l’autorisation de travailler au Canada.
