Sous Chef (Part Time) - Forestview (2025-8613)

Join Verve Senior Living as a Sous Chef (Part Time) at Forestview. Help make a difference in the lives of older adults by preparing nutritious and appealing meals in a supportive environment.

Accountability Objectives

Under the guidance of the Dining Services Manager, responsible for food preparation and service, ensuring all nutritional and dietary needs are met according to standards and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education required; completion of Cook’s Journeyman papers or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum two years experience in volume food preparation or supervision in a hospitality or institutional setting.
  • Familiarity with computerized ordering systems and dietary software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in quality improvement programs and audits.
  • Supervise food ordering, storage, and meal distribution in compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist in menu planning based on Canada’s Food Guide and resident preferences.
  • Prepare and serve food ensuring quality, safety, and nutritional standards are met.
  • Support staff onboarding and training, including in-service programs.
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, and budget with the Dining Services Manager.
  • Address resident and staff concerns related to food services promptly.
  • Ensure environmental safety standards are maintained in all food service areas.
  • Coordinate and lead food committee meetings with residents.
  • Maintain accurate temperature and sampling records as per legislation.
  • Participate in mandatory training and adhere to health and safety regulations.

Shift Timing: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, three shifts per week.
