Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?
Based at a world-class Horizon North camp facility, this position typically involves a 20-day on, 10-day off schedule, with 11-12 hour workdays. Transportation to the site from a designated pickup point is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food ordering and menu planning.
  • Assist with food preparation, service, and quality control.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to Horizon North Food Safety protocols.
  • Maintain safety standards and food safety procedures, including HACCP and FOODSAFE compliance.
  • Manage inventory on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources and effective staff performance.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and staff.
  • Plan meals considering dietary restrictions and allergies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate is required.
  • SafeCheck advanced food safety or HACCP certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in hospitality/food service, including as a Chef in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or remote lodges.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GFS.
  • Strong knowledge of menu costing, recipe implementation, and wage control.
  • Comprehensive kitchen skills across various culinary areas.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
