Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?

Located at a world-class Horizon North camp facility, the typical schedule is 20 days on and 10 days off, with 11-12-hour shifts. Transportation is provided from a designated pickup point to the site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, present, and design high-quality rotational menus.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring productivity and compliance with Horizon North policies, including health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Lead training, development, and mentoring of staff.
  • Ensure food safety using FOODSAFE and HACCP protocols, following Horizon North safety guidelines.
  • Manage resources efficiently, including labor and chemicals.
  • Serve clients and staff professionally and courteously.
  • Consider dietary restrictions, allergies, vegan, and vegetarian options in meal planning.
  • Conduct bi-weekly inventory checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certification required.
  • SafeCheck advanced food safety or HACCP certification.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in hospitality/food service.
  • Extensive experience as a Chef in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or remote lodges, with knowledge of international and domestic cuisines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) and GFS.
  • Strong knowledge of menu costing, recipe implementation, and wage control.
  • Comprehensive practical and theoretical kitchen expertise across various culinary areas.
  • Effective leadership style, positive personality, and good listening skills.
