Please note this is a 10-month contract position.

Schedule:

  • Sunday to Wednesday, and Saturday, 9:30am to 6:00pm

Responsibilities:

  • Be attentive to residents’ needs
  • Prepare meals using various cooking techniques and established recipes
  • Ensuring meals are appropriately served and portioned
  • Following guidelines, food safety standards, and established cleaning and sanitization practices to ensure the cleanliness of cooking equipment and work areas
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • 4 years of experience as a cook, must be familiar with hot food preparation
  • High School Diploma
  • Certification of mandatory training in public health and sanitation
  • Knowledge of retirement homes and institutional environment is an asset

Non-Technical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work alone (closing duties required)
  • Must be proactive and take own initiative
  • Keen sense of customer service
  • Flexibility with schedule and ability to adapt
