Key Accountabilities

  • Assist Chef in monitoring kitchen activities and expedite orders for quality and presentation.
  • Take on additional responsibilities in the Chef's absence to ensure proper kitchen direction.
  • Assist in menu preparation and design, ensuring high-quality plates both in taste and presentation.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and meets quality standards.
  • Prepare meals according to guest specifications, ensuring timeliness.
  • Properly measure kitchen ingredients and food portions.
  • Ensure kitchen staff follows standards, procedures, and sanitation requirements.
  • Use kitchen equipment like grills, ovens, steamers, and knives for food preparation.
  • Help manage kitchen inventory, ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of workstations and kitchen equipment.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Completed Secondary School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months in culinary arts.
  • Current, valid Safe Food Handler’s Certification is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of formal prior related culinary experience in a busy restaurant or hotel kitchen using kitchen equipment and a thorough understanding of various cooking
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Demonstrates strong judgment, self-motivation, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Leads by example, showing a strong work ethic, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
  • Works independently and as a collaborative, responsible team member with effective communication skills.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, adaptability, and strong organizational/time management abilities.
  • Willing to undergo necessary background checks and supports The Salvation Army's mission and values

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $39,492.02 to $49,365.02 with a maximum of $59,238.03.

Compensation:

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
