Job Description

As a team member at Langdon Hall, you will serve as an ambassador for the hotel, exceeding guest expectations with attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude are essential, especially under pressure.

The Sous Chef manages the production and execution of all menus, and supervises prep cooks, line cooks, and dishwashers in various kitchen lines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide an exceptional experience for all guests.
  2. Maintain a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence.
  3. Participate in staff education and training.
  4. Maintain acceptable attendance and meet health & safety standards.
  5. Represent the service and hospitality standards of the property.
  6. Ensure safe, sanitary food handling and proper food preparation.
  7. Supervise cleaning and food storage operations.
  8. Assist with receiving and storing food supplies.
  9. Oversee kitchen staff and report to the executive chef.
  10. Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  11. Train and develop kitchen staff skills.
  12. Schedule staff appropriately for daily needs.
  13. Participate in employee evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  14. Interact with guests in the dining area when required.
  15. Order ingredients and supplies.
  16. Ensure safety standards are strictly followed.
  17. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  18. Handle a variety of menus, from breakfast buffets to formal dinners and tasting menus.
  19. Travel for offsite events as needed.
  20. Assist in dish and menu development.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 6 years in a similar role.
  2. Ability to multitask and focus on goals.
  3. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  4. Creativity in food preparation and presentation.
  5. Detail-oriented and calm under pressure.
  6. Physical strength for heavy lifting and standing for long periods.
  7. Effective communication with staff at all levels.
  8. Proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking.
  9. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  10. Good time management and organizational skills.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

  1. Professional interaction with guests and staff.
  2. Lifting up to 50+ lbs.
  3. Extended standing periods.
  4. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  5. Positive attitude, well-groomed, polite.

Additional Information

Signing Bonus: $500 (payable after 3 months)

Anniversary Bonus: $2000 (payable on 2nd anniversary and annually thereafter)
