Job summary

BlockReel is casting a passionate Sound Designer for a 20-25 minute sci‑fi pilot shot in Toronto. You will lead dialogue editing, SFX, foley and mixing to create a gritty, emotionally charged sonic landscape. The project is remote for most post, with occasional in-person sessions, and operates as an equity partnership.

All levels welcome if you can show strong reel work; please include a link to your portfolio. Decision expected by 2 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Handle all aspects of sound post-production for a sci-fi pilot.

Job description

Filming in Toronto, ON in early November 2026 for a 3-day shoot, we're seeking a passionate Sound Designer for an ambitious sci-fi pilot. This project is a gritty, character-driven piece exploring themes of identity and artificial intelligence in a near-future urban landscape. We're aiming for a strong visual and sonic atmosphere, so your sound design will be crucial in building this world and enhancing the emotional core of the story. This is an independent production with a dedicated crew. We're looking for someone to handle all aspects of sound post-production, including dialogue editing, sound effects design, foley, and mixing for a 20-25 minute pilot. You should have your own software and be comfortable working remotely for the bulk of the post-production period, with occasional in-person sessions if needed. While experience is a plus, we're open to all levels, provided you have a strong reel demonstrating your creative sound design capabilities.
