Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent experience required.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdomen and OB/GYN required.

Overview

Ultrasounds and biopsies can be scary procedures for some patients. Your skill and compassion as a sonographer will help to put patients at ease. Your sound judgment will be used to determine imaging technique and patient treatment. Through your expertise, you will help to fulfill Legacy’s mission of making life better for others.

Responsibilities

IMAGING:

1. Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment.
2. Performs and maintains competency in Abdominal, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Biopsy, Carotid, Peripheral Venous, and Peripheral Arterial ultrasound studies in accordance with department standards and guidelines as detailed in the Ultrasound Procedure Manual.
3. Recognizes the significance of structures visualized, differentiates artifacts and records scan for permanent record.
4. Operates all ultrasound imaging equipment to ensure accurate and quality images.
5. Develops and presents films and related patient information to physician for diagnosis.
6. Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures.

DOCUMENTATION:

1. Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers.
2. Identifies patient by checking patient's I.D., full name and medical record number according to department procedure.
3. Reviews patient chart and orders to ensure correct examination.
4. Labels images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation.
5. Logs activities, gathers charging information and charges exams as required.
6. Follows department and hospital procedures and policies.
7. Performs quality control and quality assurance, records results and reports variance from normal equipment function.

1. Provides for personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with written standards so there is no injury to self or others.
2. Practices universal and blood and body fluid precautions, and sterile practices according to procedures.
3. Communicates and uses knowledge of related anatomy and physiology to ensure appropriate and effective care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
4. Maintains awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of accredited (by AMA or ARDMS) school of ultrasound or equivalent experience is required.

Skills:

Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Licensure

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdomen and OB/GYN (ARDMS AB OB) or ARRT license in Sonography. Vascular Technologist RVT (VT) certification preferred. ARDMS Breast certification preferred. Current state license in Sonography required for all employees who perform this job in the state of Oregon. If proof of registration is not received within one year of assuming the non-certified Sonographer job, the position will be vacated by the incumbent.

BLS/CPR Certification: Personnel providing direct care in patient care and diagnostic areas are required to acquire and maintain AHA BLS/CPR certification.

Pay Range

USD $46.81 - USD $66.94 /Hr.
