About the team you are joining

IATA’s Business Intelligence Services (BIS) serve as the focal point and driving force for aviation data management and BI services in the aviation industry. One of the four verticals within the IATA BIS department is Aircraft, Environment and Operations Data Line of Business. This LOB manages a portfolio of aviation BI solutions and data sharing programs, leveraging IATA’s unique access to airline data, such as Turbulence Aware and MET Program, CO2 CONNECT, MRO SmartHub, and strategic projects such as the Airline Schedule Data Exchange Program. The team is comprised of aviation industry experts, data management and analytics professionals based in Montreal and Geneva.

What your day would be like

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Business and Systems Analyst, to lead the business requirements phase for the next generation of our aviation data-sharing platform. This platform collects and distributes live turbulence data from global airline partners and is critical to our operational insights suite. This is a high-impact assignment focused on delivering five key outcomes within the next two years:

  1. A comprehensive Business Requirements Document (BRD) within the agreed timelines.
  2. Support the development of a complete Request for Proposal (RFP) package for vendor selection.
  3. Support the due diligence, evaluation, and negotiation phase to purchase the existing platform.
  4. Manage the testing of the new platform.
  5. Manage the system and the data migration.

You will act independently as both a business analyst and a project manager. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of hands-on Agile analysis expertise and strategic thinking, with a proven ability to manage stakeholders (including executives), run collaborative working sessions, and engage with IT architects and developers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Drive the development of the Business Requirements Document (BRD) and support the coordination of related project management tasks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Run structured workshops and one-on-one meetings with stakeholders to gather and validate requirements.
  • Business Analysis: Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements through epics and user stories, following Agile best practices.
  • Process Modelling & Diagrams: Create clear process diagrams and data flows using BPMN or equivalent standards to visualize system behaviour and interfaces.
  • Collaboration with IT Teams: Act as a key liaison between business and technology teams, ensuring requirements are feasible and well understood.
  • Technical Insight: Apply your software development background to shape realistic, scalable, and testable requirements that align with modern development practices.
  • Documentation: Maintain a structured and accessible repository of documentation in Confluence and track requirements via JIRA.
  • Quality and Alignment: Ensure all business requirements align with strategic objectives, stakeholder expectations, and technical constraints.
  • RFP Support: Collaborate on defining selection criteria, technical specifications, and evaluation metrics for the RFP process.
  • Platform Acquisition Support: Support the due diligence, evaluation, and negotiation phase for the purchase of the existing platform.
  • Coordinate with the I&D Test Manager to define business processes and test scenarios, prepare test data, validate test results and bug fixes, perform UAT and end-to-end testing, and actively participate in sprint demos, reviews, and test result evaluations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive system and data migration strategies, coordinating with stakeholders to define requirements and ensure data integrity, quality, and security throughout the process.
  • Oversee migration execution, including monitoring progress, resolving issues, conducting post-migration validation and reconciliation, and documenting processes and outcomes.
Qualifications
  • University degree in business administration, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in business analysis, including 3+ years in software projects using Agile methodologies with hands-on involvement in data migration planning, execution, and validation.
  • Demonstrated success leading requirement definition phases and managing cross-functional stakeholders, and coordinating with testing leads to define business processes and validate outcomes.
  • Strong fluency in Agile tools and frameworks: JIRA, Confluence, user stories, epics, backlog grooming, with experience participating in sprint demos, reviews, and test result evaluations.
  • Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and drive results without close supervision.
  • Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) and Agile methodologies are a strong plus.
