Job description

Our government client in Winnipeg, MB is looking for a Solution Architect resource for a 24 mth contract (an initial 6 mth contract with an extension option of an additional 18 mth) reference 29954-RFR-DTS-008. The position is preferred to be onsite in Winnipeg, MB but remote will be considered.

What you will be doing :

Our client requires a Solution Architect resource with experience providing technical leadership to provide solution architect services and to ensure technical integrity and consistency throughout a solution’s life-cycle stages. Duties that will be performed by the Solution Architect include, but are not limited to, developing high level or detailed estimates, implementing and operating new solutions, analyzing and documenting technical, security, and non-functional requirements, lead technical teams, analyze, design, and develop solution architectures to meet both requirements and standards, and provide technical input into the procurement of new solutions. Document the business drivers, client area processes, and how those processes contribute to the achievement of the area’s business goals

Analyze the business needs of clients and stakeholders to propose potential solutions both technical and non-technical

Lead the translation of business requirements into high-level design specifications

Design and document cost effective, innovative and operationally supportable solutions

Document the structure, connections, and relationships of business processes, organizational work groups, data, applications, user interfaces, applications interfaces, infrastructure, and network topology

Design solutions that recognize and adapt to the business, technical, and financial constraints

Develop solutions that recognize IT operational limitations and opportunities

Document the effort, risk, costs, and complexity of potential solutions

Research and write discussion documents on such topics as emerging technologies, vendors, functionality and reliability of products, and service offerings

Review proposed solution architectures and ensure they align with overall enterprise architecture roadmaps, standards, designs, and strategies

Ensure solution architectures meet business objectives for availability, reliability, performance, scalability, maintainability, manageability, and security.

What you must have :

Minimum of eight (8) years of experience working in technical Information Technology roles within complex enterprise environments

Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing solution architectures on projects across n-tiered platforms

Expert knowledge of Information Architecture principles and techniques, data management, data integration and data quality platforms and tools.

Expert knowledge in at least one enterprise ETL tool

Minimum of three (3) years of experience working architecting solutions involving complex integration scenarios (multi-platform, competing technologies, SaaS and PaaS, Software as a Service)

Knowledge of process re-engineering principles, requirements gathering, and middleware management

Knowledge of Azure Architecture (NSG, Firewall, Monitoring, Subscriptions, Key Vault, Security Controls, Authentication).

Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture approaches and frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman)

Knowledge of program level security services such as pen testing, vulnerability assessments, and threat risk assessments.

Ability to translate complex technical concepts into simple non-technical terms for various audiences

Ability to adapt to change in dynamically evolving situations

Ability to work in a team environment

Excellent customer service skills and communication skills

Excellent problem solving skills

Excellent documentation and presentation development skills.

It is preferred that the Resources have the following qualifications or experience :

Knowledge of approaches to Azure Operationalization and Security Program Integration.

Experience with large transformational projects that include phased deployment approaches, parallel application operation, and application decommissioning.

Integration patterns including platforms such as Snaplogic or Azure Integration Services.

Knowledge of SMS and SMTP services such as Twilio and SendGrid.

Knowledge of Enterprise Business Intelligence including platforms such as Power BI
