Job summary

Aviso in Toronto is seeking a Solution Architect to design and deliver technology architectures that support business goals across enterprise platforms. You will partner with business stakeholders and solutioning teams to guide implementation, ensure standards, and drive cloud and security rationalization.

The role requires deep IAM expertise, hands-on Okta/Auth0 and Azure experience, and a proven track record presenting to executives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in technology consulting, solution architecture, or identity and access management.
  • 5+ years in customer-facing roles leading complex architecture discussions with executives and IT leadership.
  • 3+ years with Okta/Auth0 implementations including migration and modernization.
  • Deep IAM expertise including SSO, federation, and identity lifecycle management.

We’re looking to fill an opening for a Solution Architect to join the Application Development & Enterprise Platforms team. Reporting to the Director, Technical Delivery and Architecture, the Solution Architect is responsible for developing and delivering technology architecture and design strategies and solutions that support organizational functions and fulfill business goals. This role will partner with business colleagues and solutioning teams to lead and drive the implementation of technology solutions incrementally toward the enterprise architectural goals.

What your day looks like
  • Lead ideation, exploration, and discovery during requirements gathering.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and financial industry solutions that could drive competitive advantages.
  • Design end‑to‑end solutions, including network and disaster recovery planning.
  • Deliver analysis, high‑level solutions, application design, and default technology catalog and reference artifacts.
  • Support SDLC, intake process solutioning, and change management processes.
  • Drive standardization and adoption of architectural best practices and common patterns across integration, cloud adoption, and application modernization.
  • Manage application portfolio, including application rationalization, vendor consolidation, obsolescence management, risk mitigation, function automation, and optimization of user satisfaction and cost savings.
  • Develop enterprise architecture and business line architectural roadmaps of current and target states and socialize to gain endorsement.
  • Create action plans in alignment with enterprise architecture and strategy priorities.
  • Drive architecture council approval process for new technology adoption and implementation.
  • Act as a technical lead in project/product development utilizing agile methodologies and DevSecOps automation practices.
  • Act as a technology partner within Aviso by proactively building relationships with the business groups to ensure achievable and technologically sound solutions are implemented.
Your experience and skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in technology consulting, solution architecture, or identity and access management.
  • 5+ years in customer‑facing roles leading complex technical architecture discussions with senior executives, enterprise architects, IT leadership, and development teams.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Okta/Auth0 implementations, including user migration strategies, authentication modernization initiatives, passkey adoption, and large‑scale identity platform transformations.
  • Deep expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM), including:
    • Authentication and authorization architecture
    • Custom policy design and implementation
    • Identity migration strategies
    • Branded customer identity experiences
    • Single Sign‑On (SSO), federation, and identity lifecycle management
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing solutions using Okta/Auth0, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD B2B/B2C, External ID), and Azure API Management (APIM). Experience building onboarding and identity solutions for diverse user populations (e.g., investors, advisors, partners, and customers) across multiple organizations with integrated SSO capabilities.
  • Proven experience designing complex delegated authentication and authorization models that enable secure, personalized digital experiences across enterprise and consumer‑facing applications.
  • Strong knowledge of modern authentication and security standards, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), PKCE, SAML, mTLS, RBAC, and ABAC, with experience developing automated user provisioning and identity management services.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud architecture, resource configuration, governance, security, monitoring, and operational excellence.
  • Hands‑on experience designing and implementing microservices‑based architectures on Azure (e.g., Azure Container Apps, AKS), including integration with on‑premises systems and the application of cloud‑native design patterns such as:
    • Sidecar
    • Service Mesh
    • Anti‑Corruption Layer
    • Facade
    • Event‑Driven Architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, clients, partners, and technical teams to define identity requirements, user personas, security controls, and target‑state architectures.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and consulting skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value for executive audiences.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience leading enterprise‑scale IAM modernization or customer identity transformation programs.
    • Relevant certifications such as Okta Certified Professional/Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
    • Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, or government.
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset.

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $150,000 - $168,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
