Job summary

United Wire & Cable, a GCG Company, seeks a CAD Designer / Technician in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The role focuses on creating and updating accurate drawings, 3D models, and documentation for electrical and mechanical applications. Hybrid work arrangement available at our Richmond Hill location.

You will translate specifications, support drawing control, and ensure CAD work aligns with quality standards while collaborating with engineers and project teams.

Qualifications

• Create, revise, and interpret technical drawings and 3D models.
• SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software proficiency.
• Detail-oriented with organized technical documentation.
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication; independent and collaborative work.
• Self-directed learning and applying new techniques.

Responsibilities

• Create drawings and 3D models in SolidWorks from input by engineers.
• Develop dimensioned drawings and specify electrical and mechanical components.
• Modify drawings based on markups and project changes.
• Reverse engineer existing electrical systems to produce drawings.
• Develop BOMs to support engineering, procurement, and production.
• Read and translate hand drawings into CAD documentation.
• Upload and organize drawings in the document management system.
• Review drawings for accuracy and quality standards.
• Coordinate CAD activities with internal teams and external partners.
• Support CAD work methods and documentation processes.
• Assist with bid and tender documentation.
