Job description

Stage 3 specializes in high-quality solids control equipment designed for mud systems to effectively manage solids, reducing costs for the customer and providing limited or zero discharge solutions as necessary. Additionally, Stage 3 employs a team of solids control field technicians, field supervisors, engineers, and scientists to make informed recommendations on managing drilling jobs for efficiency and cost savings.

Under the general direction of and reporting to the Field Leader(s), the Solids Control Technician oversees mechanical processes used to enhance drilling operations and recycle drilling fluid through closed loop and other mud systems. You will receive on-the-job training on a variety of specialized Stage 3 equipment. The role involves working an average 12-hour shift on a rotational schedule, either at various drilling rigs or environmental projects across Canada.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate equipment and systems according to company standards and policies
  • Maintain and operate solids control equipment such as centrifuges, trough & sizer, shakers, pumps, etc.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment failures
  • Monitor and control process levels, mud weights, pressures, and flows
  • Accurately collect and document data for daily reports
  • Participate in safety meetings and apply safe work practices
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Set up and tear down equipment at rig sites
  • Operate heavy equipment like front loaders, forklifts, and excavators to move cuttings or load trucks

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
  • Previous field experience in Oil and Gas industry required; dewatering and solids control experience preferred
  • Heavy Equipment certification (excavator, forklift) is an asset but not mandatory
  • Active certifications from Energy Safety Canada such as H2S Alive, Fall Protection, and Confined Space Entry are preferred
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel across Canada to remote locations
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer systems
  • Strong teamwork and independent work skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Physical ability to lift 55 pounds, walk, stand, and work in tight spaces
