Qualifications

We are currently looking for a Solid Works (CAD) Designer to join our Paris, ON team.

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the SolidWorks Designer (CAD Designer) will utilize SolidWorks for the creation of drawing packages for subsequent downstream manufacturing. The incumbent will manage designs using the vault system and apply knowledge of wood joints and construction design. They will read and understand materials listed in work orders, communicate with the project manager, estimating and production, and produce drawing packages for the Millwork, Metal, and Decor departments.

Responsibilities

When your actions lead to success:

  • Design and create 3D models that include, but are not limited to, wood, acrylic, signage, and metal using SolidWorks.
  • Create production drawings, Bills of Materials & Part Lists.
  • Collaborate with other departments to successfully execute projects.
  • Assist in the creation and management of numbering and naming schemes for drawings, documents, models, etc.
  • Provide technical support for all drawings, update and keep job files organized and monitor progress during all stages of production.
  • Carefully review customer specifications and job files to fulfill all requirements.
  • Assist other designers.
Qualifications

When your expertise drives us:

  • 3+ years of experience working with metal fixtures, sheet metal flat patterns.
  • 3+ years of experience with wood cabinetry design, joinery, and fixture design or fabrication.
  • Proficiency with Solidworks and AutoCAD familiarity.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Vault, eCabinets, Biesseworks, B solid, V carve software(s).
  • Understanding of engineering principles, assembly, fabrication, and construction.
  • Knowledge and experience with parametric modelling.
  • Ability to integrate with outside support and various CAD platforms including AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team of designers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • SWood Program experience is an asset.
