Construction Solicitor (Non-Contentious) – Watford / Hybrid

Location: Watford (with flexible working options)

Salary: £120,000 + bonus + benefits

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

A leading UK-based construction and infrastructure group is seeking a skilled non-contentious Solicitor to join its in-house legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of a large, dynamic business involved in major UK construction projects.

The Role

You will support the business across a wide range of legal and commercial matters, with a strong focus on drafting and negotiating construction contracts. The role will suit someone who enjoys working closely with operational and commercial teams, providing pragmatic legal advice from tender stage through to project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting and negotiating construction documents including main contracts, framework agreements, sub-contracts, JV agreements, and consultant appointments
  • Reviewing associated documentation such as collateral warranties, bonds, and parent company guarantees
  • Advising on legal and contractual risks across live projects
  • Supporting training initiatives and legal upskilling within the business
  • Occasional involvement in disputes (e.g., adjudications), where relevant
  • Working regularly with JCT and NEC contract forms

About You

  • UK-qualified Solicitor with approx. 6+ years’ PQE (or equivalent experience) in non-contentious construction law
  • In-depth understanding of JCT and NEC contracts is essential
  • Must have experience working with or within a Tier 1 contractor
  • In-house experience is advantageous, but not essential
  • Excellent drafting skills and commercial acumen
  • Able to work collaboratively with non-legal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
