Job summary

Sun Life Financial is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to join the AOSQE group. You will ensure delivery of quality solutions through functional and automated testing, with mainframe and data testing exposure.

You will design tests, automate where possible, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid, office-and-remote setup across Canada.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of software QA/quality engineering experience.

Job Description

Role Summary: The Application Operation Services & Quality Engineering (AOSQE) team is a part of the larger Digital Business & Technology Solutions team. Working better together. Our teams provide the services and technology our business partners need to help clients achieve lifetime financial security. We partner closely with groups and individuals throughout Sun Life Financial to provide products and services that deliver business value. Through innovation and collaboration, we're striving to continually find new and better ways to bring value to Sun Life. AOSQE is looking for a Software Quality Engineer/Software Quality Engineering Specialist with functional, automation testing skills with DB experience to join the Mainframe and Data Testing Chapter. The successful candidate acts as the Quality Advocate and is responsible to ensure the delivery of quality solutions to our clients through testing.

Main Accountabilities

• Contribute to designing and implementing effective QE testing strategies through analysis of complex business requirements
• Advocate for quality within the agile team and actively participate in ceremonies
• Design, develop detailed test cases to thoroughly test complex use cases and scenarios covering functional requirements
• Execute manual and/or automated test cases to validate business application logic and identify software defects
• Collaborate within cross-functional agile team on shift-left testing and automation reuse
• Document and track product defects, providing detailed reproduction steps, expected and actual results
• Contribute to the automation and quality engineering best practices within the Agile team
• Provide timely and effective communication to management, relating to quality, resource and project issues & concerns
• Navigate effectively through complex challenges, involving others to solve problems and achieve goals

What You Need to Succeed

• 3-5 years of software QA/quality engineering experience
• Strong experience in creation and execution of both manual and automated test cases, ensuring thorough validation of business application logic against defined requirements
• Comfortable testing reports, including validating financial data calculation accuracy
• Solid experience in QE best practices and tools
• Experience in functional, non-functional, regression, integration and end-to-end testing of Mainframe and front-end applications
• Hands on experience in test automation frameworks and tools like Tricentis Tosca, Cucumber, Selenium, Python
• Demonstrated understanding of Agile principles, DevOps, shift-left and in-sprint testing, CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jira/Confluence, qTest or equivalent Test Management tool
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and work collaboratively with cross functional team members to analyze and resolve issues
• Strong communications skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to business partners
• High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, quick learner and autonomous

Preferred Skills

• Insurance domain knowledge and finance/accounting a plus
• Experience with SQL queries, MongoDB, DB2, IMS
• Familiarity with Java, Python, C# or other programming languages
• Knowledge in BDD, TDD testing framework
• Demonstrated use in prompt engineering in generative AI chatbots and agentic AI for testing
• Enhanced Reliability Clearance is a plus

L'équipe SOIQA recherche un Spécialiste de ingénierie de la qualité des logiciels ayant des compétences en tests fonctionnels, en automatisation des tests et en bases de données pour se joindre au chapitre de test des données et de l’ordinateur central.

Le candidat retenu agit en tant que champion de la qualité et est responsable d'assurer la livraison de solutions de qualité à nos clients par le biais des tests.

Principales fonctions

• Contribuer à l'analyse des exigences commerciales complexes et de la création d'une stratégie/plan de test pour assurer une couverture exhaustive
• Concevoir et développer des cas de test détaillés pour tester minutieusement les cas d'usage et scénarios complexes couvrant les exigences fonctionnelles
• Exécuter des cas de test manuels et/ou automatisés pour valider la logique de l'application commerciale et identifier les défauts logiciels
• Collaborer au sein d'une équipe agile multifonctionnelle sur les tests shift-left et la réutilisation de l'automatisation
• Documenter et suivre les défauts des produits, en fournissant les étapes de reproduction détaillées, les résultats attendus et réels
• Contribuer aux meilleures pratiques en automatisation et en ingénierie de la qualité au sein de l'équipe Agile
• Fournir une communication opportune et efficace à la direction concernant les enjeux et préoccupations relatifs à la qualité, aux ressources et au projet
• Naviguer efficacement à travers les défis complexes, en impliquant d'autres personnes pour résoudre les problèmes et atteindre les objectifs

Les compétences pour réussir :

• 3 à 5 ans d’expérience pertinente, incluant de l’expérience en développement et/ou en assurance qualité
• Expérience solide dans la création et l'exécution de cas de test manuels et automatisés, assurant une validation complète de la logique métier des applications par rapport aux exigences définies
• À l'aise avec les tests de rapports, y compris la validation de l'exactitude des calculs de données financières
• Expérience solide dans les meilleures pratiques d'IQ et les outils
• Expérience en tests fonctionnels, non-fonctionnels, de régression, d'intégration et de bout en bout des applications Mainframe et front-end
• Expérience pratique en automation avec les cadres de travail et outils d'automation de test tels que Tricentis Tosca, Cucumber, Selenium, Python
• Compréhension démontrée des méthodologies Agile, DevOps, shift-left et des tests en sprint, des pipelines CI/CD et des outils tels que Jira/Confluence, qTest ou un outil de gestion de test équivalent

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
