Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of 8–10 engineers in Vancouver. You will drive system design, code quality, and API delivery across on-premise or cloud environments while shaping the project roadmap and Agile processes.

You will mentor engineers, refine workflows, and collaborate with Architects to modernize toolchains. A BS/MS in CS/CE or equivalent is expected, with strong communication and leadership skills in a hybrid work setup.

• Proficiency in C++ and C# with deep code reviews and architectural discussions
• Experience delivering large-scale APIs in on-premise or cloud environments
• Strong DevOps mindset with CI/CD and test automation

In this role, you will lead a high-performing team (8-10 engineers) at the intersection of cutting‑edge research and large-scale software engineering, protecting people and assets in high‑stakes environments globally.

• Drive Technical Excellence: Partner with Architects to oversee system design and code quality for complex C++ and C# applications.

• Strategic Alignment: Translate business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps and clear execution sprints.
• Foster Agility: Act as a champion for Agile principles, removing roadblocks and ensuring the team remains focused on high-value delivery.

What You Bring

• Proven Leadership: 3+ years of experience directly managing engineering teams, with a track record of fostering high engagement and technical growth.
• Deep Technical Roots: 8+ years of total experience in software engineering.
• You should be comfortable conducting deep‑deep code reviews and architectural discussions in C++ and C#.
• System Design Prowess: Extensive experience delivering complex, large-scale, public-facing applications and APIs in on‑premise or cloud environments.
• DevOps Mindset: Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and modern infrastructure‑as‑code concepts.
• Communication Ace: Exceptional ability to communicate technical complexity to non‑technical stakeholders and foster cross‑departmental collaboration.
• Academic Foundation: BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.

Bonus Points For

• Cloud Infrastructure: Expert‑level knowledge of Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Toolchain Mastery: Hands‑on experience with Bamboo, Azure DevOps, and or GitHub Actions.
• Containerization: Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.
• Video Domain Knowledge: Experience with RTSP, WebRTC, or video analytics frameworks.

This Position Is Based In

This position is based in Vancouver, BC and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver Area as you will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.

Salary

The base salary for this position in British Columbia is 145,000 - 175,000 CAD depending on experience.
