We are hiring a Software Engineer - L3 Support to work in a dynamic engineering role focused on Linux-based infrastructure and applications, covering layers from bare metal to open source applications like OpenStack, Kubernetes, and more. This role offers a chance to demonstrate broad engineering skills, working on various aspects of Ubuntu and enterprise open source software.

This position is ideal for a Linux and open source enthusiast with strong communication skills and a passion for troubleshooting. You will address critical issues in the open source stack, contribute upstream bug fixes, and support Ubuntu's success.

Location: Remote, with teams across all time zones.

The role involves:

  • Resolving complex customer issues related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Collaborating with support and engineering teams.
  • Participating in upstream communities and developing bug fixes.
  • Reviewing code and managing priorities effectively.
  • Engaging in team discussions to improve processes.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Traveling internationally up to 10% for meetings and conferences.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science, STEM, or similar.
  • Experience with Linux and open source software.
  • Proficiency in Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year.

Nice-to-have skills include a passion for technology, curiosity, soft skills, and interest in areas like kernel development, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, and others.
