Job summary

Lyft is seeking a Summer 2027 intern in Toronto to work alongside top engineers, contributing to user-facing products with autonomy from day one.

You will refine code, emphasize testing, and participate in reviews while building a solid foundation in React, TypeScript, and frontend tooling. This hybrid role requires in-office presence at least 3 days/week and offers competitive CAD pay.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS in Canada with graduation between Dec 2027 and Summer 2028.
• Available Summer 2027 for internship in Toronto.
• Strong CS fundamentals and knowledge of Python, JavaScript, CSS and HTML.
• Experience with React and modern frontend testing tools (Webpack, Babel, Jest, Jasmine, Protractor, WebDriver).
• Understanding of browsers, DOM, Git and Unix CLI; familiarity with TypeScript and Sass.

Responsibilities

• Own your project and coordinate with team members with updates.
• Refactor code progressively and ensure reliability through tests.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
• Develop user-facing features that improve Lyft drivers' and passengers' lives.

Responsibilities

• Own your project, while checking in with other team members throughout the day with questions and updates
• You leave the code in a better state than when you found it (progressive refactor)

• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
• Continuous integration and deployment

Experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science from a university in Canada (required), with a graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028 (required).
• For any candidates who are master's students who worked between their bachelor's and master's programs: candidates should also have less than 2 years of relevant full-time work experience
• Available during Summer 2027 for an internship in Toronto
• Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals
• Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
• Experience working with leading JavaScript frameworks, like React
• Experience with modern frontend testing tools, such as Webpack, Babel, Jest, Jasmine, Protractor, and WebDriver
• Understanding of how browsers and DOM work

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $40 - CAD $45 per hour. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Your recruiter can share more information about the salary range specific to your working location and other factors during the hiring process.
