Software Engineer II (Merchant Data Platform)

About the Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer II to build out financial products and features providing new levels of accessibility and flexibility to our users. You will architect, design, and implement new API and microservice interfaces to manage a merchant's lifecycle, analytics, data, and interactions with Affirm. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to improve the performance and reliability of our systems that enhance the user journey with Affirm.

What You'll Do

• Develop technical strategies for complex requirements, addressing large-scale, open-ended problems.
• Participate in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects.
• Own the merchant data platform's health and improve surrounding systems.
• Collaborate with engineers across teams.
• Enhance engineering standards, tooling, and processes organization-wide.

What We Look For

• 2-4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proven track record of developing, testing, and deploying high-quality software at scale.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Sentry.io, Rollbar, Kibana).
• Experience with building APIs using Python, Kotlin is a plus.
• Experience with mySQL or Elasticsearch is a plus.
• Ability to design highly performant interfaces.
• Product-centric mindset, balancing user experience and engineering design.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Base Pay Grade: L

Equity Grade: 5

Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000 per year.
