We're looking for a Software Engineer II to join the AI Agents engineering team within the Servicing Engineering organization. Our team works closely with omnichannel AI agent vendors to provide a conversational first point of contact for our customers. We focus on orchestrating the systems within Affirm to continuously find solutions for our customers. The team is newly formed and taking on big unknowns, so we're looking for someone who wants to take ownership and execute for whatever is necessary.

What You'll Do

1. Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work.
2. Support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs.
3. Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts.
4. Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.

What We Look For

1. You have a total of 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
2. You have experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
3. You have experience designing, developing, and launching APIs at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
4. You excel at transforming simple problems or business scenarios into solutions that interact with multiple software components, writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
5. You are comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing feedback through code reviews.
6. You demonstrate ownership of your growth by seeking feedback proactively.
7. You possess strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

Equity Grade - 05

Employees new to Affirm typically start at the beginning of the pay range. Affirm offers a transparent pay structure based on location, experience, and skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include stipends for health, wellness, tech spending, and benefits (including subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage). Employees may also be eligible for equity rewards.

Base pay range per year: $125,000 - $175,000

Location - Remote Canada

Affirm is a remote-first company, allowing most roles to be performed almost anywhere within the country. Some roles may require occasional office presence.
