Job description

Software Engineer II (Consumer Servicing)

Join to apply for the Software Engineer II (Consumer Servicing) role at Affirm

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

We're looking for a Software Engineer II to join the AI Agents engineering team within the Servicing Engineering organization. Our team works closely with omnichannel AI agent vendors to provide a conversational first point of contact for our customers. We focus on orchestrating the systems within Affirm to continuously find solutions for our customers. The team is newly formed and taking on big unknowns, so we're looking for someone who wants to take ownership and execute for whatever is necessary.

What You'll Do

  • Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work.
  • Support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs.
  • Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting "keep the lights on" and on-call efforts.
  • Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.

What We Look For

  • 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
  • Experience designing, developing, and launching APIs at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
  • Ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and executing on it by writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
  • Comfort navigating large code bases, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
  • Demonstrated ownership of growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
