Job summary

Expedia Group in Montreal is hiring a software engineer for the Home & Navigation team to design, build, and evolve backend services and customer experiences across native apps and web. You will own API design, data modeling, and end-to-end lifecycle, delivering secure, scalable solutions with a focus on reliability and observability.

You will collaborate with product, design, and partner teams to translate needs into robust technologies, test with modern frameworks, and leverage AI/ML

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java and experience with SpringBoot, API technologies (gRPC/REST/GraphQL), AWS, and NoSQL/SQL databases.
• Experience designing, implementing, and operating service ownership for moderately complex systems.
• Experience with testing, monitoring, and debugging, and building dashboards with tools like JUnit, Cucumber, Gatling, Splunk, and Datadog.
• French and English bilingualism is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve backend services and customer experiences for the Home & Navigation team, including system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling.
• Implement high-quality production code and supporting service components for maintainable, testable, observable systems.
• Collaborate with product, design, and partner engineering teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Own and improve the end-to-end lifecycle of services and features, including development, automated testing, deployment, monitoring and incident resolution.
• Apply data and metrics to prioritize work and improve performance and reliability.
• Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions to enhance outcomes and leverage AI tooling where appropriate.
