The Partner Merchant Interfaces - Integration team within Decisions Foundations is growing, and we are looking for a Software Engineer II with a track record of leading projects and initiatives on the Partner Merchant Interfaces Team. You will be part of a fast-paced team responsible for the APIs that Partners and Merchants use to integrate with Affirm, and also power some of our top partners like Amazon and Stripe.

What You'll Do

1. With the support of your team’s tech lead and manager, break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery.
2. Support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs.
3. Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” and on-call efforts.
4. Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.

What We Look For

1. You have a total of 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
2. You have experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems and are proficient in Python or Kotlin.
3. You are familiar with the building blocks of distributed systems, and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
4. You have experience designing, developing, and launching APIs at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
5. You excel at transforming simple problems or business scenarios into solutions that interact with multiple software components, writing clear, well-tested, and extensible code.
6. You are comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing feedback through code reviews.
7. Your experience demonstrates ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
8. You possess strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
9. This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Pay Grade - L

Equity Grade - 5

Employees typically start at the beginning of the pay range. Affirm offers a transparent pay structure based on location, experience, and skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include stipends for health, wellness, tech spending, and benefits such as subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents. Employees may also be eligible for equity rewards from Affirm Holdings, Inc.

Base pay range per year: $125,000 - $175,000

Affirm is a remote-first company, allowing most roles to be performed remotely within the country of employment. Some roles may require occasional onsite presence at an Affirm office.
