Job description

Software Engineer - Health Systems

NERv Technology Inc. D.B.A. FluidAI Medical Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

About this position

Company Description:

FluidAI is specialized in the development and deployment of data-driven surgical solutions, with an initial focus on general and gastrointestinal surgery. Our technologies integrate medical devices, software, and artificial intelligence into platforms that address real clinical and operational challenges across the continuum of surgical care.

We combine continuous physiological monitoring from our proprietary sensors with comprehensive electronic health record data, creating intelligent systems that enable earlier identification of clinical deterioration and complications. Beyond patient monitoring, our platform extends to patient education and engagement tools, as well as automated documentation and coding modules — supporting care teams and driving operational efficiency.

Our team brings together expertise across clinical practice, research, engineering, data science, manufacturing, and commercialization. We build solutions designed for real-world impact, supported by full in-house capabilities, a strong intellectual property portfolio, and partnerships with leading institutions around the world.

We are an equal opportunity employer and have a diverse team representation across language, ethnicity, gender and nationality.

Why Join FluidAI Medical?

  • Mission to save lives and improve patient care with technology that’s already deployed on patients in real-world settings.
  • Work with a high-performing and cross-functional team that is empowered to grow, learn, and contribute across all levels of the organization.
  • Gain exposure across the entire technical stack, from novel sensing technologies and proprietary hardware to mobile/web software and ML algorithms.
  • Personal career-focused development and training with access to workshops, coursework, and experienced mentors/consultants.
  • Regular offsite activities – past events include rafting, cottaging, axe-throwing, sports leagues, and the usual BBQ.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Software Engineer to build and deliver the applications, data tools and integrations supporting FluidAI’s health systems technology initiatives. You will work across the full stack to translate clinical and operational requirements into reliable software, develop planning and analytics capabilities, and support implementation in customer environments.

Your work may include hospital planning and simulation applications, operational dashboards, integrations with electronic health record (EHR) systems, medical devices and other clinical and operational platforms, and the backend services and data pipelines that support them. You will own assigned software components from requirements through testing and production deployment, with responsibility for code quality, data integrity, technical documentation and troubleshooting. You will work closely with our software team and senior technical and program leads.

Note: This is an office-first role working out of our Kitchener HQ in the Medical Innovation Xchange

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with LLMs and AI agents as core product components.
  • Contribute to architecture, deployment, and infrastructure decisions.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for testing and deployment.
  • Test, document and troubleshoot software and data integrations.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of software development experience, with demonstrated ownership of software components from requirements through production deployment within a collaborative engineering team.
  • Backend development experience using C#/.NET, Python or Node.js, including API design and integration between services.
  • Experience designing backend systems, including data flows between services and relational or document database schemas.
  • Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments; confidence debugging issues across the application stack.
