Job summary

FluidAI Medical is seeking a Data and AI Engineering Associate for an 8+ month co-op, based at our Kitchener HQ. The role centers on extracting clinical value from data from our proprietary sensors, with a focus on software architecture and development to deliver high-quality products.

The position is office-first, located in the Medical Innovation Xchange, and requires translating regulatory requirements into product specs, plus deploying strategies for local and international hospitals.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of backend architecture design and implications on development, security, and privacy
• Strong knowledge of data structures and database fundamentals
• Strong knowledge of back-end development (C# Preferred) and mobile development (Android Kotlin & Java)
• Good knowledge UX design for website and mobile development; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and evolving conditions
• Familiarity with version-control software (Git)
• Understanding of international regulatory pertaining to patient data security and privacy (HIPA, PHIPA)
• Knowledge of standard encryption algorithms for data security

Transparency & Hiring Practices:

• Compensation : The pay for this position will be based on average co-op wages as outlined by your academic institution’s co-op program or similar institutions if specific data is unavailable, ensuring fair and competitive compensation aligned with industry and academic standards. The typical range for this role is $22 - $25 per hour for work terms 2-4.
• Grant Eligibility : This position is made possible through wage subsidy grants such as BioTalent SWPP. As such, participants must be a current student, registered in a Canadian Post-secondary program. International students are not eligible. Eligible participants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada and be legally entitled to work.
• Co-op Requirement : As this is a co-op position, candidates must have a co-op work term scheduled with their university for the term they are applying for.
• Application Screening : All applications are screened manually. We do not use AI or AI-Augmented Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to screen, assess, reject, or select candidates.
• Position Status : This winter term position will become available in Winter 2027.
